In controlling rust and corrosion, the traditional approach has been to cover metal surfaces with a barrier coating such as paint, wax or oil. Unlike wax coatings, its non-hardening film will not dry out, stiffen or crack. Under stress, it bends as the metal surface flexes or twists beneath it. It won't wash off even after being submerged in water for hours.
